New Jersey International Tax Attorneys – Thorn Law Group

Julie Sorenson is an associate with Thorn Law Group who focuses on resolving both routine and complex civil and criminal tax law issues.  Her practice covers a full spectrum of domestic and international tax matters, including offshore bank accounts, civil tax audits, criminal tax investigations and tax planning for both individuals and businesses.

Ms. Sorenson serves local taxpayers in New Jersey while also handling a number of national and global cases.  Her clients include consumers, professional athletes, corporations, partnerships and other taxable entities.

As a NJ international tax lawyer, Ms. Sorenson has particular experience representing individuals and entities who wish to make voluntary disclosures of offshore bank accounts.  She works closely with clients to prevent the host of legal ramifications that can follow the withholding of tax information from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).  Her goal is to protect clients from both civil monetary penalties and criminal persecution.

Ms. Sorenson also works with clients who have been audited by the IRS. Tax audits can be extremely complex and stressful.  Ms. Sorenson works closely with clients, dedicating her time to ensure they have a thorough understanding of the process.  When a tax issue cannot be successfully resolved at the audit level, Ms. Sorenson guides clients through the process of contesting the matter with the IRS Office of Appeals.

Ms. Sorenson is a graduate of The George Washington University School of Law and currently holds memberships with both the American Bar Association and the Maryland State Bar Association.  During her time in law school, Ms. Sorenson worked for both the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) at the IRS and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
