Swiss Banks to Provide U.S. with Client Information on Undisclosed Accounts

Offshore Account Update, UBS / HSBC

Posted in on August 13, 2011

European banks are ready to pay billions to the United States, as well as disclose U.S. clients’ names to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ). Switzerland has been known as one of the largest tax havens in the world and wishes to continue its long-practiced tradition of tax secrecy and has allegedly agreed to divulge information requested by U.S. agencies, including U.S. taxpayer information.

The banks included are allegedly : Basler Kantonalbank, Wegelin & Co., Zuercher Kantonalbank, Julius Baer, Bank Leumi , Bank Hapoalim, Mizrahi-Tefahot Bank, Credit Suisse, HSBC and Liechtensteinische Landesbank AG.

Now more than ever U.S. taxpayers with undisclosed offshore banks accounts should come forward through the current voluntary disclosure program in order to avoid risking substantial civil and/or criminal exposure

The attorneys at Thorn Law Group have experience in assisting U.S. taxpayers into compliance through the 2011 IRS Voluntary Disclosure Program. If you have an undisclosed offshore account contact Thorn Law Group now before it's too late!
